CSU Home > Career Center > Volunteer Opportunities > Girls Incorporated of Columbus & Phenix-Russe Girls Incorporated of Columbus & Phenix-Russe ![]() Introduction: GIRLS INCORPORATED has been in the business of helping girls in the Columbus area since 1952 and is the only community organization whose primary focus is on at-risk girls and served over 1000 local girls last year. GIRLS INCORPORATED has awarded scholarships to 80 girls since 1965 and since 1996 five members have received national. GIRLS INC. scholarships, receiving $10,000 each. GIRLS INCORPORATED continues to place great emphasis on character training and provides an environment where girls find acceptance, support and a chance to develop self-confidence and self respect. GIRLS INCORPORATED offers girls a multitude of programs that encourage them to take risks, think, probe and ask questions. Programs include computer lab, team sports, prevention programming, college and career resource center, Operation SMART(Science Math And Relevant Technology), YESS (Youth Empowerment and Self Sufficiency), arts and crafts, Summer Theater, fun field trips, leadership opportunities, community service projects, TEEN Program and more. GIRLS INCORPORATED offers Preventing Adolescent Pregnancy, a comprehensive abstinence-based prevention program, to all 3rd graders through teens. This year 600 girls, including those in outreach programs, participated in this unique program designed to help them acquire information, motivation and skills to avoid sexual activity during their teen years.
