Contact Helpline

Mission Statement:CONTACT Helpline is a 24-hour confidential telephone listening service, you can call any time of the day or night if you need to talk to someone about what`s bothering you. A miracle happens every time two lives connect through CONTACT Helpline. The caller can remain anonymous and the conversation is confidential; thus, the hesitant person is encouraged to take the important first step toward self-help. People from all walks of life, ages, religions, social and economic backgrounds call to talk to our trained volunteers, each of whom has an extraordinary capacity to care.

Volunteer Opportunties:Join us. Be there when they call - enroll in a CONTACT training course. This 50-hour, college level program is designed to stimulate personal and professional growth to develop techniques of listening, communicating and finding solutions, and to provide an information base to aid in dealing with contemporary issues.

We are looking for:

  • People who are willing to develop new techniques of listening
  • People with a large capacity to care
  • Those who would like to improve their communication skills
  • Volunteers who like to help find solutions
  • Those who are willing to do crisis intervention

In addition to staffing the helpline, CONTACT also needs volunteers to assist with office work, the Human Resources Directory, the Holiday Auction and to provide leadership throughout the organization. Being a CONTACT volunteer is a way to help your community and is a deeply rewarding experience.
