Posting a job for on-campus positions

Student assistant posting process:
If you have already selected a student for the position, you will not have to post the position on CougarLink. The student must complete an application and the supervisor must complete a PAR form. Once these forms have been submitted to Human Resources, the student can be set up for orientation, if needed.

If you have not selected a student for the open position, go to Cougarlink and sign on as an employer. If this is the first time using CougarLink, you will need to complete a simple registration form and post the position locally.

Complete the job posting information.

Selection process:
Step 1:  Students should complete an application for the position. The application must be submitted to the department that is hiring the student. The department will go through applications and call students in for interviews.

Step 2:  Once the deparment has selected a student for the position, a Personnel Action Request (PAR) form should be submitted to Human Resources. 

Step 3:  All students need to complete a brief orientation through HR prior to employment.

Step 4:  When the position has been filled, close the posting in CougarLink.

Graduate Assistant posting process:

 Step 1: If you have already selected a student for the position, you will not have to post the position on CougarLink. Complete the graduate assistant appointment form and PAR form.  Once you have submitted the forms, the student will need to be set up for orientation.

Step 2:  If you need to advertise the position, go to Cougarlink and sign on as an employer. If this is the first time using CougarLink, you will need to complete a simple registration form and post the position locally.

Step 3: Complete the job posting information.

Selection process:
Step 1: Students will complete an application for the position and submit it to your department. The department will go through applications and call students in for interviews.

Federal Work Study posting process:
If you have already selected a student for the position, you will not have to post the position on CougarLink. The student must complete an application and the supervisor must complete a PAR form. Step 1:  Students will return applications to the department. Department workers need to make a copy of the student's Job Eligibility Form. This form verifies that the student is eligible for work study money.

Step 2:  The department will go through the applications and call students in for interviews.

Step 3:  Once student has been selected, fill out a PAR form from HR.

Step 4:  Return PAR form to HR, and they will schedule the student to attend orientation.

Step 5: A PAR form and student orientation must be completed prior to the student working.

Step 6:  Close the position in CougarLink.

Internship process

Step 1:  Go to Cougarlink and sign on as an employer. If this is the first time using CougarLink, you will need to complete a simple registration form and post the position locally.

Step 2: Complete the job posting information, listing the position type as Internship. You can receive electronic resumes from students who are interested.

Selection process:
Step 1:  Ensure the student meets the requirements for their major and have faculty permission. 

Step 2: Inform the approving faculty member that the student will begin internship in your area.

Step 3:  When the position has been filled, close the posting in CougarLink.

Step 4: An evaluation of the internship's performance should be completed by the hiring authority prior to the end of the semester.
